The Baylor Bears men’s basketball team has ascended to No. 1 in the country and come into Saturday having covered seven of their past eight games. But they have had issues covering big spreads at home so far this season.
The Bears have covered just once at home with a closing number above nine, and that was the season opener against Central Arkansas.
Though TCU has gone 7-12 against the spread, a lot of these losses have come as either a big favorite or in a tight spread. TCU enters Saturday 340th in the country in free-throw shooting percentage, which has led to this team being unsuccessful in games which they are more likely to find themselves at the foul line regularly.
With Baylor ranked 41st in the country in fewest free throws surrendered per game and 285th in the country in possessions per game (TCU ranks 273rd in that category), it should lead to a slower game in Waco, Texas which makes a larger spread harder to cover.
The play: TCU, +12¹/₂.
