A Department of Homeless Services employee hijacked a forklift at a Queens auto pound on Tuesday when workers there refused to fork over an impounded car, cops said.
Dashawn Campbell went to Northside Auto Towing just before 10 a.m. to get his car out of hock, but employees refused to hand over the keys — because the vehicle wasn’t registered in his name, police said.
When he couldn’t get his hands on the car, an infuriated Campbell reached for the next best thing and allegedly hopped on a nearby forklift and began moving the machine around, according to police.
According to police, workers at the impound lot were able to block the 30-year-old from driving the heavy machinery and it’s not immediately clear how far Campbell was able to get.
The DHS employee was arrested and faces charges including unauthorized use of a vehicle and criminal trespassing.
