Mason Rudolph and Wayne Gallman were among those injured on Sunday afternoon in Week 5 of the NFL season. Here’s a recap of the injuries to players across the league and how it could impact fantasy football:
Mason Rudolph, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Mason Rudolph was helped off the field in the third quarter after taking a brutal hit from two Ravens defenders. He was unresponsive at first, but later walked off the field with assistance. Rudolph was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for a concussion and was replaced by Devlin Hodges, an undrafted rookie from Samford University. Before exiting, Rudolph completed 13 passes on 20 attempts for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Wayne Gallman Jr., RB, New York Giants
Wayne Gallman, who has shouldered the lion’s share of the workload in the backfield with Saquon Barkley (high ankle sprain) out, suffered a concussion during the first half of Sunday’s game against the Vikings and did not return. He was replaced by Joe Hillman, who would be a popular waiver add if Gallman were to miss time and with Barkley’s return timetable uncertain. Gallman had two carries for 14 yards on the day.
Josh Jacobs, RB, Oakland Raiders
Josh Jacobs had a huge day for fantasy, rushing for 123 yards on 26 attempts and two touchdowns. He exited the game briefly with an elbow injury during the Raiders Week 6 win over the Bears. It did not appear serious and he returned shortly after.
Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Mark Andrews exited the game after being tackled in the fourth quarter. He returned during overtime, as the injury did not appear to be serious and caught five of seven passes for 45 yards in Sunday’s matchup against the Steelers.
Marquise Brown, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Marquise “Hollywood” Brown sustained an ankle injury and was assisted to the locker room during Week 5 against the Steelers. He scored an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter before exiting and went three-for-five on the day for 22 yards.
Phillip Dorsett II, WR, New England Patriots
Phillip Dorsett went down early in Sunday’s game with a hamstring against the Redskins and did not return. He had zero targets on the day.
James Washington, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
James Washington reeled in three of six targets for 52 yards before leaving Sunday’s game against the Ravens with a shoulder injury.
Darren Sproles, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Darren Sproles left Sunday’s game in the third quarter with a quad injury after returning a punt for four yard. He immediately headed to the medical tent on the sideline and went to the locker room from there. He had three carries for four yards against the Jets.
James O’Shaughnessy, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
James O’Shaughnessy was helped off the field during the third quarter against the Panthers and did not return. He caught three passes on four targets for 57 yards.
Alex Erickson, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
With the Bengals shorthanded now that John Ross is on injured reserve, wide receiver Alex Erickson got the Week 5 start against the Cardinals. But Erickson left the game in the second quarter with a concussion after a hard hit. He was able to get up on his own and was escorted off the field by the training staff. He was ruled doubtful for return and was replaced by Stanley Morgan.
Eddy Piniero, K, Chicago Bears
Bears kicker Eddy Piniero was injured by defensive end Arden Key after making an extra point against the Raiders. He grabbed his right knee and was helped to the injury tent, but stayed in the game after taking a practice kick on the sideline.
