Social media’s loins are “lighting up” for Harry Styles.
Early this morning, the former One Direction heartthrob dropped the new video for his first single in over two years. The song, “Lights Up,” is the first release from his currently untitled sophomore album.
Fans immediately started tweeting about getting “cozy in bed.”
In the steamy new single, Styles, 25, is greased-up and half-shirted as he saunters on the beach in Mexico and rides tail gait on a motorcycle — channeling Leo DiCaprio a la Baz Luhrman’s “Romeo + Juliet.”
Back in September, the crooner told Rolling Stone his forthcoming album is “all about having sex and feeling sad.”
The sultry pop track, co-written by Styles along with song producers Tyler Johnson and Kid Harpoon, features the singer making bedroom eyes as he coos lines such as “runnin’ through my heart” and “la-da-da-da-da.”
Brimming with unabashedly bisexual energy, the ogle-worthy video — which has already racked up more than 3 million views — is sending shockwaves through social media.
Although most of the Twitter and Instagram commentary are too raunchy to share, here’s a taste of the rated PG posts that are trending Friday morning:
“Harry Styles creates the most profound, melodically interesting, *timeless* music and that is the damn tea! So good to have him back, two years was way too long♥️♥️♥️ #LightsUp ✨,” tweeted Savannah Grim, a disc jockey at 107 The River in Nashville.
“CHEST HAIRRY STYLES,” wrote Alex Goldschmidt, a social media manager with Digital Media Management.
“Harry Styles is the most attractive male on earth I’m sorry I don’t make the rules,” gushed fan @tyrantsandfuel.
A release date for Styles’ new record has not been announced.
