Things are hopping in downtown Adelaide amid the coronavirus pandemic.

This lockdown-defying kangaroo was spotted bouncing Sunday through the deserted streets of the South Australian city.

“Protective Security Officers tracked a suspect wearing a grey fur coat hopping through the heart of the #adelaide CBD this morning,” police in the city of more than 1.2 million people joked in a tweet about the meandering marsupial.

“He was last seen on foot heading into the West Parklands,” they added.

A police spokesperson said the rogue roo narrowly escaped a road accident.

“It was quite unique,” the spokesperson told CNN, adding that it was likely the eerie stillness that drew the animal to the city center.

All Australians are required to stay at home except for essential outings, including buying groceries or seeking medical care. Gatherings are limited to two people in public areas.
