Kerry Washington’s newest scandal will be a canceled high school dance.

Deadline reports the actress has been cast in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix adaptation of the Broadway musical “The Prom,” which will air in 2020.

The “Scandal” actress will star alongside Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Andrew Rannells, James Corden, Awkwafina, Ariana Grande and Keegan-Michael Key in the TV musical. The stage show, about four floundering Broadway actors who try to help a young Indiana lesbian couple for the publicity, was nominated for seven Tony Awards in 2019.

Washington’s role hasn’t been announced yet, but the quartet of high-energy Broadway performers will be played by Streep, Kidman, Rannells and Corden.

This is the second Broadway-to-Netfix film Washington has appeared in from the 2018-2019 season alone. She also starred in “American Son.”
