A 43-year-old NYPD school safety officer who allegedly raped a girl over five years starting when she was 6 was arrested Monday, according to police and sources.
Jean Isidor Jean Baptiste, of Brooklyn, was arrested around 7 a.m. Monday and hit with seven charges, including rape, predatory sexual assault against a child, criminal sexual act, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child, the NYPD said.
The victim, who is now 17 years old, told authorities that the alleged abuse took place between 2008 and 2012 when she was between 5 and 9 years old, sources told The Post.
The Internal Affairs Bureau launched an investigation based on the girl’s report, which culminated with Baptiste’s arrest.
City payroll records show Baptiste earned $59,367 last year and has been on the force since at least 2008.
Baptiste was off duty at the time of his arrest, according to police.
Police did not provide details on the girl’s relationship with her alleged abuser, but sources said they lived in the same household.
