Rick Pitino’s road back to college basketball could take him right to New Rochelle.

The 67-year-old had been coaching in Greece since being fired as part of a massive college basketball bribery scheme, but Tim Cluess’ resignation as Iona coach could bring Pitino back to the college basketball ranks.

According to The Post’s Howie Kussoy, Gaels boosters have targeted him as a potential replacement.

Pitino’s accomplishments at the collegiate level are well-known — a 621-271 record over 30 seasons with Boston University, Providence, Kentucky and Louisville, with a national title in 1996.

Unfortunately, his exploits are just as infamous, with multiple scandals over his time with the Cardinals. A sex-for-pay scandal forced Louisville to vacate the 2013 national championship. Pitino was investigated and eventually fired for his role in a pay-for-play scheme involving a recruit.

Pitino will likely have competition from Bryant coach Jared Grasso, a former Cluess assistant at Iona, who is also considered a favorite for the job.
