You’re housebound and hungry — but there’s relief from monotonous, reheated meat loaf and gummy chicken wings from the joint up the block.
Our sit-down restaurants are history for now. We already miss their friendly vibe, fun soundtracks and the cheering smiles of our favorite waiters.
But we can still enjoy what they put on the plate. Hundreds of restaurants are offering their menus for takeout and delivery. They include some of the most popular and acclaimed places and even two that boast a Michelin star.
There’s no way to replicate the full dining-out experience, but we can make still love their food. Here’s a selective list of some of the best choices in many cuisines. CARBONE, 181 Thompson St. Haut-retro Italian offers a limited version of its Michelin-starred menu via Caviar including its dinosaur-size, $69 veal parmesan. You won’t get the 1960 atmosphere at home but the food can make up for it. Available via trycaviar.com.
