The old musical ball and chain is back.

After a mere three years of wireless Apple AirPod hype, the new AirPod Carrying Strap looks a whole lot like, well, old school Apple EarPods.

Only those easily tangled tech relics now cost around $29 — the AirPod Carrying Strap will run you $60.

Designed by Swedish manufacturer Tapper and available from Nordstrom, the device is touted as one that “protects your Apple AirPods. The magnetic lock snaps the AirPods around your neck.”

Nylon and leather versions with brass detailing are available via Nordstrom, but gold-  and silver-plated versions are up for grabs on Tapper’s UK-based site.

”We believe that premium products should be a combination of great functionality and smart design,” Tapper hypes.

Well, perhaps there’s a built-in audience for such retroactive accessories.

Wedbush Securities analysts predict Apple could sell as many as 15 million AirPods — for $159 and up — when sales from Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the rest of December are combined, according to Business Insider.

Still, this AirPod Carrying Strap is the most head-scratching development since artist Pablo Rochat designed AirPod stickers — and affixed them all over San Francisco.

The prankster stuck realistic imitations of Apple’s pricey wireless headphones to sidewalks, lampposts and manhole covers just to mess with people.

“I often see people drop their AirPods,” Rochat told Mashable. “So I thought it would be funny to make it look like people are dropping their AirPods all over the city and see if people would try to pick them up.”
