President Trump sounded off on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden ahead of their scheduled debates, accusing the former vice president of using drugs to enhance his on-stage performance.

Speaking to Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” Tuesday morning, the commander-in-chief made the comments while accusing his 2020 rival of using a teleprompter during interviews.

“You look at Biden he’s reading notes and he’s reading teleprompters all the time and he doesn’t read them well. And during interviews, he’s doing an interview and he’s reading the credits. I saw two to three weeks ago, I said, ‘I think he’s reading a teleprompter,’” Trump told the morning show.

The president then referenced a recent interview that Biden’s press secretary, TJ Ducklo, gave to the network in which he refused to answer a question about the candidate’s alleged teleprompter use.

“He can’t answer the question because he knows it’s true,” Trump said of Ducklo’s response during his interview last week.

The commander-in-chief then said of Biden, “The man is shot, let’s face it. We can’t have a man who is shot because you know who’s not shot? [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, President Xi [Jinping], [North Korean dictator] Kim Jong Un. They’re not shot, they’re world-class chess players. This guy is shot, everyone knows it.”

The conversation then turned to the issue of the three presidential debates, when the hosts asked the president what he was doing to prepare.

Trump argued that it was unclear what kind of shape Biden would be in at the debates from watching his previous performances.

“Well I don’t know which Biden is going to show up because I watched him during the debates where they had 20 people on the stage … and he was a disaster, you don’t get worse. He was grossly incompetent. Then I watched him against [Sen.] Bernie [Sanders] and he was okay. He wasn’t Winston Churchill, I can tell you that, but he was okay. He was fine, I said it was like an even debate,” he explained.

Then the president said he began to wonder, “‘What did he do? What happened to him all of a sudden?’ Because he was okay, and Bernie was okay, it was, you know, an extraordinarily boring debate, but he got through it. And I said, ‘What’s the difference between now and some of those classic moments in the other debates?’ And something was strange, in my opinion, I won’t say what but a lot of people think that something happened and you can’t do that kind of stuff, you just can’t do that kind of stuff,” he continued.

The president did not initially say what he meant by “that kind of stuff,” but was asked by a network host if he was referencing his previous accusations of Biden taking drugs and that he wanted the former vice president to take a drug test.

Trump replied with a yes.

“I would take one, too, yeah,” he told the hosts, before saying while being interrupted, “I think he should take a drug test.”

Asked if he believed Biden was taking drugs to “pep him up,” he responded, “I do, he’s taking something … that gives him some clarity.”

When the host surmised that maybe Biden was being served coffee to wake him up, Trump replied sarcastically while laughing, “Yeah, maybe he has a lot of coffee. Maybe he has 15 cups of coffee.”

Asked about Biden not expressing interest in Joe Rogan hosting a possible fourth debate, as the president has, Trump said, “Joe is lost, Joe is lost. We can’t have a president that’s mentally lost.”
