Actor Will Smith rapped the theme song to his 90’s hit show “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in Times Square Saturday night for over 1000 shivering souls who braved the freezing temperatures in a “sleepout” to raise awareness for homelessness.

The event was one of 50 in major cities worldwide to help raise funds for charities that address the homeless crisis.

Smith told the crowd how playing the role of homeless man Chris Gardner in his 2006 movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” was “a life-changing experience.”

“It makes me emotional thinking about it right and you know to not have a place to go and go be able to lay your head down with your children at night is a horrendous tragedy,” said Smith.

Among those camping out for the night was Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

“We have to solve the problem, which means we have to find the housing, supportive housing, the other supportive needs whether it’s the mental violence needs, mental health needs that folks have to have to have a home,” said Williams
